Paul Lukas (Budapeste (Hungria), 26 de maio de 1895 - Tánger (Marrocos), 15 de agosto de 1971 ) foi um actor húngaro.
Biografia
Lukas nasceu em Budapeste em 1895. Em 1927 , mudou-se a Hollywood depois de uma carreira cinematográfica e teatral exitosa em Hungria, Alemanha e Áustria, onde trabalhou com Max Reinhardt. Realizou seu debut teatral em Budapeste em 1916 e seu debut cinematográfico em 1917 . Inicialmente, interpretava casanovas, mas com o tempo foi encasillado em papéis de villano. Em 1933 se nacionalizó estadounidense. Lukas esteve bastante activo durante os anos 1930, aparecendo em filmes como The Lady Vanishes de Alfred Hitchcock, a comédia Ladies in Love e o drama Dodsworth.
No entanto, seu papel mais importante vinho em 1943 , quando actuou em Watch on the Rhine. Por esta actuação ganhou um Prêmio Óscar e um Balão de Ouro. Também é conhecido por seu personificación do professor Arronax no filme de 1954 Vinte mil léguas de viagem submarino.
Durante os anos 1940, Lukas foi um membro da Motion Picture Alliance for the Preservation of American Ideals, um lobby que se opunha a qualquer influência comunista em Hollywood.
Durante os últimos anos de sua carreira, actuou tanto em cinema, como em teatro e televisão. Morreu em Tánger (Marrocos).
